Imagine, for a moment, you’re sick. A disease is spreading around you, and the information that could stop it escalating is inaccessible. Despite every advance in medicine and an increasingly connected world, this is a nightmare that all too many people are living today. The problem is especially pronounced in the developing world.Unlocking data to the benefit of science and medicine is one of the remaining great technological quests. With technology already helping to make miracles happen in so many places, how can we hack existing protocols to ensure that the ability to save a life is never restricted by a lack of access to data? In 2018, the Red Cross moved the data up to the cloud and launched an open source platform in order to track the spread and location of diseases. This information can prompt early interventions that arenow saving thousand of lives, especially in Somaliland and Senegal. But our platform is currently a minimum viable product - we need back-end and front-end expertiseto enhance the platform and save more lives. The 2019 Coca-Cola Innov8 Hackfest is open for applications! Aligning with their sustainability initiatives, the world’s largest total beverage company is looking to digitize their value chain by leveraging disruptive technology, in partnership with Swire Coca-Cola.This year, the competition focuses on 5 categories: 1) Smart Retail & Consumer Engagement (B2B2C, B2C, O2O) Think of creative ways to attract, connect and engage consumers with new models focused on online community-based marketing surrounding social media sites to help with their product sell-in. 2) Customer Experience (B2B) Come up with integrative solutions to approach, connect and convert their Eating & Drinking customers with a focus on building CRM for all their sales channels and developing stronger bonds with them. 3) Advance Analytics & Data Visualization Optimise Swire's existing database using advanced data analytics technology, which will guide them to make more informed decisions, identify opportunities and risks. 4) Digital Supply Chain Minimise inefficiencies that have arisen in Coca-Cola's supply chain due to the presence of multiple partners by leveraging technologies to link data across the supply chain. 5) Other Value-Adding Innovations Are you a start-up based in China or Asia Pacific? Serverless GoesPublic Elevator Pitch Serverless is getting bigger by the day. But so are 21st-century challenges in areas like public policy, science, and healthcare. Are serverless technologies mature enough to provide solutions that scale to stop hunger or fight climate change? In this hackathon, you’ll use serverless architectural patterns to build a product or service using at least one open, public dataset. Tech Race Europe and Tech Race Finland are series of mini-hackathons aiming to bring like-minded people together and lower the barrier of hackathons. These events are aimed for everyone, from beginners to the most prominent techies. They are organized all around Europe with the objective to find out what is the best tech city with the most talented people. In the hackathon the participants will be given a large pool of challenges to solve in teams of 1 to 3: the more difficult the challenge, the more points you collect. No matter your experience level, you will definitely be able to solve some of them but definitely not all. Tech Race has something for everyone!
